My View Regarding Bhagavad Gita in English PDF by Swami Vivekananda
I was constantly amazed at the popularity which Bhagavad Gita has, not only in India but also in other countries. So I began to read the original version called Bhagavad Gita as it’s by Swami Prabhupada.
After a couple of chapters, I had to put down it as I found it rather elaborative and complicated, which is good when you’ve got a good amount of free time! A couple of days later, I had been introduced to some other version of the holy scripture written by Swami Vivekananda. Having good admiration for Vivekananda, I began this book. While I’ve got my due criticisms, I enjoy the thought of Swami Vivekananda. The book deals with several subjects and could be rightly called a comment on Vedanta’s Philosophy. I feel the underlying message here is not to get distracted by the worries of the result when doing work. Some uncertain things play their part in the result that we don’t have any control.
Because of all such aspects, more often than not, the result is uncertain. However, suppose we attach ourselves to work. In that case, we’ll begin worrying about the result, which might, in turn, reduce the efficiency of the work. Hard work is a specific factor in the results of the work. It is in our control. It’s far better to avoid any distractions. I believe it’s hard to work without thinking about the result. After all, it’s the aim itself that compels us to drive harder. Isn’t it? A more complicated reading of Karma Yoga (Concentration in action) is required to understand such theories in detail. The book also delves into other topics such as Jyana y1og, rebirth, asceticism, etc. Being an atheist, I couldn’t appreciate that part. Still, I was curious whether some inherent philosophy behind this chapter or Vivekananda had supreme faith in Krishna.
